Help creating an access database?
I have this call spreadsheet. A group of my workers are calling on worker's comp claims and they have to enter the information from the phone calls into this spreadsheet under the correct tab. How do I create an Access Database and form to track referral requests?
I'm new to Access and I've been tasked with creating a database to track calls received from people asking for help. I need to track the following information Date Timecaller's genderwho answeredservice they were seekingagencies they were referred toI have a table with requests, a table with staff names, and table of agency names. I think I've got the one to one relationships down, but I'm not sure how to handle a one to many...They can be referred to more than one agency or just one agency. How do I create a flexible data structure that will allow me to track all of this information in an easily searchable format? Also, I'd like to create a form so less savvy folks can enter this data with ease. The catch there is that the list of Agencies can grow and change the form would have to be dynamic. An example database would be helpful, too. I'm good at reverse engineering. PS Is there a better way to handle genders than a " gender" table? Thanks I've checked the templates on Microsoft's website, and there isn't much there that seems relevant...

I have to create a database and relate 2 tables. in the first table i have a list of 'students' with addresses and other irrelevant information. In table two I would like it to return the first and last name of the student when chosen. Currently the table only shows the last name in the cell however if you drop the menu down it shows both the first and last name. How do I get it to return both and show both?

Books

The following books are my personal recommendations for all levels of Access database users and developers.

Enjoy!

Access 2007 - Dummies

This is a great book for beginners. It takes you through from the very beginning without too much jargon 'computer' talk and adds a little humour to your learning. This is one of my favourites and is a starter recommendation for my students.

Access 2007 VBA

This book provides you with the tools and techniques you’ll need in order to build more sophisticated solutions. After walking through the features of Access 2007 VBA, you’ll learn all about object–oriented programming and ADO.
