Need a question answered about Microsoft Access Database's?
I do not know much about microsoft access yet but i was playing with it not to long ago and noticed that it has a pre set up map or database of a network with multiple workgroups within. I was wondering if this is a map or if it is an actual database? What i am wondering if i can do with microsoft access is create multiple workgroups and join alot of computers to those work groupds and then be able to see and manage them though the database... Can a database act this way if so can a microsoft access database act thsi way? If not what are some other ways that you can hook up many computers to different workgroups and then secure the workgroup where it takes a password to join the work group like a domain would need the network administrator password to join that.

I have made an access database its all fine but the relationship is related to the autonumber primary key which i think is what i have to do right? , but what i want is to be able to do is instead of typing in the related number for the other related tables autonumber, i want to be able to add a new text entry or select from previously used entries in the data.Like if you had ten names, and the autonumber had gone from 1 10 on the names, but if in the related table you wanted to type the text version of their names or type 'greg' and the database would assign it the correlating autonumber. Help would be great thanks.

How can I get a total of existing totals on a microsoft access database?
I have done a database with 6 fields, date, post, telephone, web, email and fax, so whenever we have orders we can identify the origin. I have done a query so that it is grouped by date but sums up all the post orders, telephone orders etc. But now I need a total of all the orders altogether, so I need a total of the existing sums. Can anyone help me? Thanks
I have a user that gets error 3050 "cannot lock file" when trying to open a microsoft access database file....?
This user tries to open the file but gets the error 3050. He has full access to the file and the folder it's in. I searched this error and found something telling me to delete the old LDB file. Is this a good idea? I'm not sure if deleting that will cause errors with the database file. Just looking for a solution to fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

hi if you have some fields in a table, say bookings. how do you make a query so that it creates a unique booking id automatically. also the unique id's cannot be same as some of the bookings already in the tablethanks
